Air fry a personal frozen pizza at 375°F (190°C) for 8–10 minutes. That converts from the 400°F, 12-minute oven instruction on most packets. The real constraint here is not temperature — it is whether the pizza physically fits.
Will it fit?
Check this before anything else.
| Air fryer type | Maximum pizza diameter |
|---|---|
| 3–4 qt basket | 6 inches / 15 cm |
| 5–6 qt basket | 7 inches / 18 cm |
| 7–8 qt basket | 8 inches / 20 cm |
| Dual basket, per drawer | 6–7 inches / 15–18 cm |
| Air fryer oven / toaster style | 10–12 inches / 25–30 cm |
A standard 12-inch frozen pizza will not fit any basket model. Your options are to cut it into quarters and cook them in batches, use an air fryer oven, or use the oven as intended.
How does the oven conversion work?
| Oven (packet) | Air fryer | |
|---|---|---|
| Temperature | 400–425°F / 200–220°C | 375°F / 190°C |
| Time | 12–18 min | 8–12 min |
| Preheat | Yes | Yes, 3 min |
How long does it take by Type?
| Type | Temperature | Time |
|---|---|---|
| Personal frozen pizza, 6–7″ | 375°F / 190°C | 8–10 min |
| Thin crust, 8″ | 380°F / 195°C | 7–9 min |
| Rising / thick crust, 7″ | 350°F / 175°C | 12–15 min |
| French bread pizza | 375°F / 190°C | 8–10 min |
| Pizza bagels / mini | 375°F / 190°C | 5–7 min |
| Quartered 12″ pizza, per batch | 375°F / 190°C | 6–8 min |
| Leftover slice, reheated | 350°F / 175°C | 3–4 min |
Thick and rising crusts run cooler and longer. At 375°F (190°C) the cheese and toppings finish well before the dough centre cooks, leaving a raw seam under the sauce.
Why is my pizza burnt on top and raw underneath?
Because the heating element sits directly above the food and the fan drives heat downward onto the toppings. In an oven, heat surrounds the pizza and the stone or tray conducts into the base.
Two fixes: drop the temperature by 25°F (-5°C) and add 3 minutes, or cook the pizza on a perforated rack or liner raised slightly off the basket floor so air reaches the base.
Should you use parchment paper?
Only perforated parchment, and only once the pizza is on it — never preheat with loose paper in an empty basket, because the fan will lift it into the heating element. Solid parchment blocks airflow to the base, which is the opposite of what a pizza needs.
A perforated liner is the better choice, and it also solves the base-cooking problem.
Can you cook a fresh or homemade pizza?
Yes, and it works well at 380°F (195°C) for 6–8 minutes, provided the dough is rolled thin and the base is no larger than your basket. Homemade dough benefits from 2 minutes cooking bare before the toppings go on — this sets the base and prevents a soggy centre.
Do not overload the toppings. Wet ingredients release moisture the air fryer cannot clear in that short a cook.
Reheating leftover slices
350°F (175°C) for 3–4 minutes is the best method available for reheating pizza, and it is one of the strongest arguments for owning an air fryer. The base re-crisps rather than going leathery in a microwave or drying out in an oven.
One or two slices at a time, laid flat, not overlapping.

Frequently asked questions
What temperature for frozen pizza in an air fryer?
375°F, or 190°C, for 8–10 minutes for a personal size. Thick crusts go lower and longer at 350°F.
Can I put a whole 12 inch pizza in an air fryer?
Not in a basket model. Cut it into quarters and cook in batches, or use an air fryer oven, which fits up to 10–12 inches.
Do I need to preheat?
Three minutes. A cold basket lets the base absorb moisture before it sets, which is the main cause of a soggy centre.
Can I cook pizza from frozen?
Yes, always cook from frozen. Thawing makes the base soggy and adds no benefit.
How do I stop the cheese blowing off?
The fan can lift loose toppings before the cheese melts. Press them down before cooking, and start at a lower temperature for the first 2 minutes.
Is a pizza pan accessory worth it?
For basket models, a perforated one is genuinely useful — it lifts the base off the floor so air circulates underneath. A solid pan defeats the purpose.
