Air Fryer Temperature: Temperature, Time, and Unit Charts

The most common air fryer temperatures in Celsius are 160°C, 180°C and 200°C, which correspond to 320°F, 355°F and 390°F. To convert an oven recipe given in Celsius, reduce a conventional temperature by 15°C or a fan temperature by 10°C, and reduce the time by 20%.

Most air fryers move in 5°C steps, so the third column is what you can actually dial in. A 3°C rounding will not change your result — the difference between 193°C and 195°C is well inside the variation between two units of the same model.

Work in the unit your recipe is written in. Converting a Celsius recipe into Fahrenheit, subtracting 25°F (15°C) and converting back introduces about a degree of drift each way, and rounding at both ends compounds it. Subtract 15°C directly instead — the air fryer conversion is defined independently in each system.

What is the formula for Fahrenheit to Celsius?

Subtract 32, then multiply by 5/9. For 380°F: 380 − 32 = 348, and 348 × 5/9 = 193.3°C. Going the other way, multiply by 9/5 and add 32.

Why is 25°F (15°C) not the same as 15°C?

Because 25°F (15°C) as a temperature difference is 13.9°C, not 15°C. We use 15°C because air fryers dial in 5°C increments and 15 is the nearest usable step. The one-degree discrepancy is smaller than the calibration variance of a consumer air fryer.

What temperature do most air fryer recipes use?

Between 175°C and 200°C for anything crisp — chips, wings, breaded items, roast vegetables. Between 150°C and 170°C for proteins cooked through without heavy browning, and 140°C to 160°C for reheating. Very few air fryer recipes go above 200°C.

Does my air fryer’s Celsius reading match a thermometer?

Often not exactly. Consumer air fryers commonly run 5–10°C above or below their display, and the variance is larger at the top of the range. If your results consistently run fast or slow at the converted setting, adjust by 5°C and keep that offset as your unit’s correction.

Related conversions and adjacent topics

Fan ovens and conventional ovens take different reductions, because a fan figure has already been adjusted once. The fan oven conversion covers that distinction, which is the most common source of undercooked results in UK kitchens.

The UK oven to air fryer converter works in Celsius throughout and defaults to fan oven, so no cross-system rounding is involved.

Frequently asked questions

What is 400°F (205°C) in Celsius for an air fryer?
204°C exactly; set 205°C, or 200°C if your unit steps in tens.

What is 380°F (195°C) in Celsius?
193°C. Set 195°C. This is a common frozen-food and wing temperature in American recipes.

What is 200°C in Fahrenheit?
392°F (200°C). Most recipes round this to 390°F (200°C) or 400°F (205°C).

Is 180°C the same as 350°F?
Close but not equal — 180°C is 356°F. Culinary convention treats them as interchangeable, and the 6°F (3°C) difference has no practical effect.

Should I use exact conversions or rounded ones?
Rounded, to whatever increment your air fryer offers. Precision beyond 5°C is not meaningful on this hardware.
