Air Fryer to Oven: Temperature, Time, and Conversion Chart

To convert an air fryer recipe to a conventional oven, add 25°F (15°C) to the temperature and add 25% to the cooking time. An air fryer recipe at 375°F for 20 minutes becomes 400°F for 25 minutes in the oven.

What is the Air Fryer to Oven conversion chart?

Air fryer temp Oven temp Air fryer time Oven time
300°F / 150°C 325°F / 165°C 8 min 10 min
325°F / 165°C 350°F / 180°C 12 min 15 min
350°F / 180°C 375°F / 190°C 16 min 20 min
360°F / 180°C 385°F / 195°C 20 min 25 min
375°F / 190°C 400°F / 200°C 24 min 30 min
380°F / 195°C 405°F / 205°C 28 min 35 min
400°F / 200°C 425°F / 220°C 32 min 40 min
425°F / 220°C 450°F / 230°C 36 min 45 min

Temperature and time convert independently. An air fryer recipe at 400°F (205°C) for 16 minutes becomes 425°F (220°C) for 20 minutes.

This direction is the harder one, and it is worth knowing why. Air fryer recipes are written for a small cavity with a fast fan, where surface moisture is driven off quickly and browning happens early. A conventional oven cannot reproduce that. The conversion gets the food cooked through correctly, but you will lose some crispness — the fixes for that are below.

How do you convert air fryer temperature to oven?

Add 25°F (15°C), or 15°C. An air fryer setting of 375°F becomes 400°F in the oven; 190°C becomes 205°C. If your oven only offers 5°C increments, round up rather than down — a conventional oven's recovery after the door opens costs more heat than the rounding.

How do you convert air fryer time to oven time?

Multiply by 1.25. Sixteen minutes becomes 20 minutes, 24 minutes becomes 30 minutes. This is the inverse of the 0.8 factor used going the other direction, so converting back and forth returns you to the original numbers.

How do you keep food crisp when converting to an oven?

Three changes recover most of the texture. Use a wire rack over a sheet pan so air reaches the underside instead of steaming it. Spread food in a single layer with visible gaps. Move the pan to the upper third of the oven for the final 5 minutes, or switch to broil for the last 2 minutes and watch it continuously.

Should you use the convection setting instead?

If your oven has one, yes — and change the conversion. Convection sits between an air fryer and a conventional oven, so add only 10°F (5°C) and 10% to the time rather than the full 25°F (15°C) and 25%. See the air fryer to convection oven conversion for the complete chart.

Does the conversion change for larger quantities?

Yes, and this is the main advantage of moving to an oven. Air fryer recipes are sized to a basket, typically one or two servings. Doubling the quantity in an oven usually costs only 10–15% more time, not double, provided the food still sits in a single layer with gaps. Weigh the food rather than counting pieces when scaling.

Why does my oven version take longer than the chart says?

Preheating is usually the reason. An air fryer reaches temperature in 2–3 minutes and most recipes ignore it; an oven takes 12–15 minutes and most people start the timer too early. Confirm the oven has actually reached temperature with a separate thermometer before the food goes in — built-in oven thermostats commonly read 15–25°F (-5°C) optimistic.

Related conversions and adjacent topics

Temperature and time convert together, never separately. The same rule set covers every appliance pair on this site, and the methodology page sets out where it comes from and the seven conditions under which it stops holding.

Every figure above is built into the oven to air fryer conversion calculator, which applies both adjustments together so you do not have to work them out separately.

Frequently asked questions

What is 400°F (205°C) in an air fryer equivalent to in an oven?
425°F, or 220°C. Add 25°F (15°C) to any air fryer temperature to get the conventional oven equivalent, then add 25% to the cooking time.

How long do you bake something that air fries for 15 minutes?
About 19 minutes, at 25°F (-5°C) above the air fryer temperature. Check at 15 minutes on your first attempt, since oven calibration varies more than air fryer calibration.

Can I convert air fryer frozen food instructions to the oven?
Usually the package already has oven instructions — use those first. If it only lists air fryer times, add 25°F (-5°C) and 25% time, and use a wire rack to avoid a soggy underside.

Does this conversion work for baking?
Yes, and it is the safer direction. Ovens are more forgiving for cakes and bread than air fryers, because the slower air movement lets batter set before the surface crusts.

Do I need to flip food in the oven?
Less often. An air fryer needs shaking because it has a hot zone near the fan; a conventional oven heats a stationary tray fairly evenly. One flip at the halfway point is enough for most items.

What if my oven has a fan I can't turn off?
Then treat it as a convection oven: add only 10°F (-10°C) and 10% time. Most European and UK ovens are fan ovens by default — see the fan oven conversion page.
